These are the most widely used PV systems which do not require batteries and are connected to the electricity grid. The solar power that is generated is exported to the electricity grid and the user gets paid a feed-in-tariff (FiT) or credits for the energy exported.
An off-grid system is not connected to the electricity grid and requires battery storage and a backup generator for round the clock usage. This type of Solar PV plant helps to create energy independence and most suited in remote areas having no grid connection.
Modern hybrid systems combine solar PV and battery storage in one and are able to store solar energy that is generated during the day and using it at night. When the stored energy is depleted, the grid is there as a back up, allowing consumers to have the best of both worlds.
